Do you ever sit in public (in a bus, in a coffee shop, in a library, in a waiting room, and anywhere else) and you feel like all eyes are on you?
And, then, when YOU look at other people; they either start to stare longer or they quickly look away! But, why?
. . .
You wonder why and what people are staring at, but then you think; maybe there’s something wrong with ME? Maybe I’M doing something wrong?
You convince yourself that those things are true and that there is something wrong with you (your not normal), so you force yourself to sit completely still without hardly breathing, in hopes that people stop staring.
But, wait, it’s been a few minutes and the eyes are still on you; Now what?
You’ve run out of options, you don’t know what to do anymore, you can’t figure out why the eyes are still staring at you…
Finally, you stop worrying about the others around and start being yourself!
After you do this, you watch as some eyes start looking away, while others start to smile, some call you weird, and some even start to talk to you.
. . .
This is a metaphor for life.
When we try to conform to the things of this world (and be exactly like everyone else), people will judge us because we are not like them, but if we are ourselves, people will either; shun us or be intrigued by our differences!
What will you choose?
